Tullahoma 13's Area "A" Champs - Sweep Giles County 8-2 for Championship July 17---The Tullahoma 13-year-old all stars defeated Giles County a second straight time 8-2 to win the area championship in Cookeville Monday night. Winning pitcher David Hess and Justin Crago combined for 6 innings giving up 2 runs on 5 hits and striking out 7 in a game that was called in the bottom of the 6th inning due to lightning. Giles County went up early 2-0 in the top of the 2nd but Tullahoma answered in the bottom of the inning with 5 runs and added another 3 runs in the bottom of the 5th . Tullahoma hitting was led by Justin Crago's 2 RBI double and run scored, AJ Sharp's 2 RBI single and run, James Plaisted's 2 singles and run, and Cale Greenway's RBI double and run. Jesse Haywood and Ryan Rippy each added an RBI and a run, and David Hess and Austin Creasman each added a run to complete the Tullahoma scoring. Tullahoma outscored their area opponents 32-8 in the tournament. Their next game will be 5:30pm Friday in the State tournament at Lewisburg. [Info by Randy Sharp]
