Tullahoma American 11&12 Sunday 8/5

Summary by Inning
Alabama 0 3 0 0 3 1--7
Tullahoma 3 2 0 0 0 0--5

First Inning: On defense, Sam Tomes got out of the inning with two runners left stranded on base by two strikeouts and a 4-3 Zach Lampkin-to-Alex Butaud grounder. On offense, Trey Burks doubled, Sam Tomes had an RBI single and Bradley Roepke after a single, scoring on a Justin Brown double.

Second Inning: On defense, Tomes gave up 3 runs on two hits, a pair of walks and a defensive error, but Justin Brown snagged two pop-fly in right field, and Tomes struck out the clean-up batter. On offense, Ryan Lawson singled, and was scored on a 2-RBI home run blast by Alex Butaud. Trey Burks singled but couldn't score.

Third Inning: On defense, Tomes took care of business with two quick strikeouts and a sliding catch by Roepke at first base. Offense consisted only of a stolen first base by fast Justin Brandon on a hit towards third base.

Fourth Inning: Marquel Hickerson threw out a runner at first, Burks caught a shot to center field, and Butaud scooped a grounder at first to stop Alabama. Offense saw a single by Caleb Zidan followed by a double by Trey Burks, but neither could score.
Fifth Inning: Alabama came alive in the fifth with three singles and a double up the middle to go ahead, and Justin Brown entered after Tomes reached his pitch count to shut down the Alabama onslaught. Tullahoma had three batters hit into outs to end the inning.

Sixth Inning: Brown pitched well, alas for a solo shot to deep center field. Hickerson made two throws to first, and Roepke snagged a sunlit fly ball. Offense was almost, as Zidan got on base with a single, followed by Lampkin with a double, so Alabama intentionally walked Burks, which left the bases loaded, but Tullahoma couldn't get a winning hit to seal the win.
