Zach Lampkin bashed a pair of homers to lead the American League over the Nationals 11-5 in Monday's championship game.

The Tullahoma American 11-12 squad won the District 8 championship Monday night with an 11-5 win over the Tullahoma National League team.

The Americans did it in their usual way—strong pitching and great power at the plate. Brad Roepke scattered eight hits and struck out 11 in five innings of work, and Justin Brown handled the final inning. At the plate, the power assault was led by Zach Lampkin who bashed a pair of homers and drove in three runs. Sam Tomes and Justin Brown also homered.

Brown and Lampkin both had two-run shots in the second inning to put the Americans on top 4-0, and they never looked back. They scored a run on a wild pitch in the third to make it 5-0 before the Nationals got on the board in the bottom of the inning on Nick Moore’s RBI single in the infield and a subsequent wild pitch that made it 5-2.

The Americans put it away in the fourth when Lampkin launched a solo shot, and Brad Roepke added an RBI bunt single. Ryan Lawson then delivered the wipe-out blow with a two-run single that made it 9-2.
