Tomes Hammers Three Homers; A’s Win Streak Continues

Sam Tomes ripped three homers and struck out eight while allowing just one hit in three innings on the mound to lead the 8-0 A’s to a four-inning win. Nick Thompson pitched the fourth inning for the A’s, whose winning streak now stands at 42 games encompassing three seasons. Trey Burks and Brad Roepke also had three hits apiece, and Thompson had two. Chase Hawkersmith and Xavier Northcutt had one hit each. Reed Gabriel had the Orioles’ only two hits. Alex Butaud, Aaron Banks and Tyler Fishback pitched for the O’s.

Cubs 10 Cardinals 0
Tyler West threw a no-hitter and struck out 11 to lead the Cubs. Jordan Sheffield had three hits, including a homer, and drove in three runs, and Keller Cook went 3 for 3 at the plate. Justin Reese and Joseph Anderson handled the mound duties for the Cards.

Dodgers 9 Braves 8
The Dodgers led at one time 8-3, but a five-run rally by the Braves in the fifth inning forced the Dodgers to come up with the game-winning run in the bottom of the sixth. Scott Jones and Michael Mitchell pitched for the Dodgers, and Jones turned in a red-hot 4 for 4 performance at the plate. Hunter Waites and Cody Kennedy added two hits apiece. Michael Shipp and James Dougherty pitched for the Braves, and Shipp was 2 for 2 including a homer.
