Lots of Big Margins in Tuesday’s Little League Action

  Lots of lopsided games characterized Tullahoma Little League action Tuesday night. Of the six games played, the smallest margin of victory was six runs. The two undefeated league leaders, the A’s and the Cubs, were among the teams posting impressive wins.

National League
Dodgers 10 Pirates 0

The Dodgers (2-4) got shutout pitching from Scott Jones and Michael Mitchell and two hits each from Cody Kennedy (3 RBI), Mitchell (1 RBI) and Hunter Waites. Jacob Pearson did the pitching for the Pirates (0-6), who got hits from A.J. Moore and Hot Rod Partin.

Mets 11 Cardinals 0
The Mets banged out 10 hits, including a 3 for 3 performance from Nick Moore highlighted by a homer, two doubles and four RBI. Brandon Weddington, Kriss Potts and Zane Price had two hits apiece, and Scottie Maupin had one. Weddington and Moore took care of the pitching for the Mets. Justin Reese had the Cards’ only two hits, and he also pitched along with Joseph Anderson and Tanner Hill.

Cubs 20 Braves 7
The Braves (2-4) jumped on top 3-2 in the first inning, but the Cubs (6-0) scored 12 runs in the final two innings to put it away. Justin Weeks, Jordan McKelvey and Hunter Myers pitched for the winning team. Taylor Hill led the offensive onslaught with four hits and four RBI, and Tyler West and Jordan Sheffield had three hits apiece. Michael Shipp, James Dougherty, Casey Allar, Doran Noble and Joe Strasler pitched for the Braves. Dougherty and Tyler Legeune led the offense.

American League
Orioles 10 Devil Rays 2
Alex Butaud, Aaron Banks and Tyler Fishback combined to pitch the shutout, and Banks went 4 for 4 at the plate. Butaud and Reed Gabriel had two hits each, and Fishback and Justin Lock had one hit apiece. Drew Lester and Spence Lynn pitched for the Rays who got two hits each from Lynn, Lester and Zach Papula.

White Sox 12 Indians 1
Marquel Hickerson and Justin Hill had three hits each for the Sox, and Travis Crago and Austin Rogers added two apiece. Hickerson, Rogers and Jacob Hise pitched for the winners. Van Williams pitched for the Indians and Josh Brandon, Drew Smart and Jalen Swain had hits.

A’s 13 Tigers 2
The unbeaten A’s pounded out 20 hits including four by Trey Burks and three each by Sam Tomes, Brad Roepke and Zach Norris. Roepke struck out 11 and allowed one hit in four innings, and Nick Thompson worked the final inning. Justin Brown, Brett Schmit and Zack Lampkin pitched for the Tigers. Lampkin, Jordan Snow and Joey Ortiz had hits.
