WINCHESTER---The Franklin County Rebelettes handed the Tullahoma Lady Wildcats their eighth straight loss to open the season Tuesday night by a 62-39 count.
The Rebelettes parlayed four 3-pointers and four layups into a 20-7 first-quarter lead, and it was never under double digits after that. The Lady Cats gamely tried to disrupt the bigger, stronger Rebelettes with full-court pressure, but Franklin County proved to have too many weapons.
Sophomore Chrissi Edens came off the bench and gave the Lady Cats a four-point lift in the first quarter, and Holly Kiser and Erica Gilbert added four apiece in the second period, but by half-time the Rebelettes had a solid 31-18 lead.
The third period has been a problem for the Lady Cats, and Tuesday was no exception. The Rebelettes put up a 14-6 advantage in the quarter for a commanding 45-24 lead going to the final stanza.
Senior Erica Gilbert knocked down a pair of 3-pointers in the final period for Tullahoma, and Kiser and Kristen Vance added five apiece.
Dana Jackson led all scorers with 21 points, and sharpshooter Julia Zimmerman added 14 for the Rebelettes, including four 3 pointers.
Erica Gilbert’s 12 was tops for the Lady Cats, and Kiser added 10.
