The hot-shooting Coffee County Lady Raiders spoiled homecoming for a large crowd at the THS gym Friday night with a 70-41 thrashing of the Tullahoma Lady Wildcats. Coffee County jumped on top 9-0, but the Lady Cats fought back to 9-7 before the Lady Raiders put it into overdrive and pulled away for good. It was 35-18 at the half, and the lead steadily grew through the second half of play.

Guards Cortney Page and Jenna Philpott combined for 29 points for the Lady Raiders, who became only the third team to score 60 or more against the Lady Cats. Smyrna scored 60, and Shelbyville scored 61.

The Lady Cats took a beating at the free throw line in the first three quarters when Coffee County went to the line 19 times to seven for Tullahoma. The Lady Cats did make it to the line 12 times in the fourth period, but the issue was long settled by that time.

Danae Thornburg scored eight to lead the Lady Wildcats while senior Desiree Seay and freshman Alexis Jacobs scored six apiece. The Lady Cats have only one remaining regular-season game, a home contest against district champion Shelbyville Tuesday night. The Tullahoma girls will open district tournament play the following week at Lawrence County.
