TMS Wrestlers Open Season With Dominant Performance

  The Tullahoma Middle School wrestling squad got its season under way with an impressive 65-30 win over a strong West Wilson squad Tuesday night at the old West Middle School gym.
  The Wildcats followed that dominating performance with a win over Warren County, which also lost to West Wilson earlier in the evening.
  The Tullahoma-West Wilson showdown got off to a rough start for the Wildcats with Isaac Foster being pinned in the 185-pound class and Micah Starks falling at 225. Brandon Miller righted the ship with a pin in the heavyweight division, then the action shifted to the smaller guys where Brandon Brunner won by pin in a tough 76-pound matchup.
  Steven Smith was pinned by his 83-pound opponent, then Perrin Norris made short work of his opponent at 91 pounds. That started a streak of four straight pins by the Cats with Nathan Simmons winning at 99 pounds, Luke Frederick getting the job done at 106, and Blake Oakes triumphant at 113.
  Jacob Shelton finally lost by pin in a rough and tumble match at 119 pounds after the action was twice stopped to attend to Shelton’s bloody nose. Josh Thompson attacked early and won quickly at 125 pounds, then Emily Gessler won by pin at 131. Dillon Crouch followed with a pin at 141, Andre Johnson was impressive in a victory at 151, and Trevor Dinney was pinned in the final match at 165.
  Tullahoma defeated Warren County 69-18. Match results were:
76 lbs. Brandon Brunner won by forfeit; 83 lbs. Steven Smith won by forfeit; 91 lbs. Perrin Norris won by pin; 99 lbs. Nathan Simmons won by pin; 106 lbs. Luke Frederick won by pin; 113 lbs. Blake Oakes won by pin; 119 lbs. Jacob Shelton won by pin; 125 lbs. Josh Thompson won by pin; 131 lbs. Emily Gessler won by forfeit; 141 lbs. Dillon Crouch won by pin; 151 lbs. Andre Johnson won by pin; 165 lbs. Trevor Dinney lost by pin; 185 lbs. Isaac Foster lost by pin; 225 lbs. Micah Starks lost by pin; heavyweight Brandon Miller won by decision.
   Tullahoma takes on Mt. Juliet Tuesday at 5 p.m. at the old West gym.
