The
Tullahoma Middle School Wrestling squad finished another strong year at
the Middle Tennessee Wrestling Championships at Seigel High School Saturday,
coming in third behind Blackman Gold and Hendersonville.
Brandon Brunner, Perrin Norris, Luke Frederick, and Josh Thompson all
finished first in the conference. Nick Thompson, Jacob Shelton, and Deonta
Smith took second in their weight classes. Bradley Daniel third and Issac
Foster fourth.
The first place medal awarded to Josh Thompson was the third consecutive
time he has finshed tops in his weight class, which has never been done
before by a Tullahoma Middle School wrestler.
The best match in the tournament was given to Perrin Norris for his first
place match that he won 15-7 against Blackman at 106 pounds. Brandon Brunner
was named the tournament's Best Wrestler.
All year long Tullahoma wrestled with three open weight classes, and they
still competed with the top teams in Tennessee. Coaches Max Gessler Sr,
Mike Frederick, and Max Gessler Jr were all very instrumental in bringing
out the most competiveness in each wrestler this year and will have a
year-end banquet to celebrate their accomplishments in a few weeks.
