Lady Wildcat Julianne Swafford tees off on the 14th hole during the Stan McNabb Invitational Thursday. She shot 85, the third best score among girls.

Montgomery Bell Academy’s (MBA) boys shot 303 to take home first place in the Stan McNabb Invitational golf tournament at Lakewood Country Club Thursday while Riverdale and Brentwood Academy were right on their heels with a pair of 306 scores. Riverdale won the second-place medal by virtue of a scorecard playoff. Tullahoma’s boys shot 319 and finished seventh among the 13 boys teams on hand.

Hardin County’s girls continued their dominance of the event, shooting 152 to easily out-distance the field for their third straight Stan McNabb championship. Father Ryan shot 171 to finish second, and Siegel fired a 187 to take home the third-place trophy. Tullahoma’s girls finished fourth among the eight teams with a 196 total.

While the team scores were not spectacular, coach Brad White’s Wildcats and Lady Wildcats did have a couple of solid performances in the individual rankings. Senior Tyler Bailey was one of four golfers who shot 73, and he finished second via a scorecard playoff. MBA’s Rob Broadhurst took home top medalist honors with an even-par 72.
Senior Julianne Swafford was the third-place medalist among the girls with an 85. The outstanding duo of Hardin County golfers, Ashley Haggard (75) and Baillie Johnson (77) took first and second place, respectively.

Boys teams may have up to five golfers with the top-four scores counting in the team score. Girls may have up to three players with the top-two scores counting in the team total. In capturing the boys' crown, MBA had all five players under 80, including a 72, a 73 and three 79s. Only two of those 79s counted. Haggard and Johnson’s 75 and 77 made up the Hardin County girls’ score. K.C. McGinley’s 93 did not count in the team total.
