Bobcats, Lady Bobcats Open Season With Tough Road Trip
by Mike McGee

The West Bobcats and Lady Bobcats opened the season Monday night with the toughest road challenge of the season, a trip to White County to play the always-tough Warriors and Lady Warriors.

An inexperienced West team hung on through two quarters but still trailed 22-9 going into the half-time break. White County then put it away with a 15-6 advantage in the third quarter.
Kellan Pearson led the Lady Bobcats with 10 points, but West had trouble containing the Lady Warriors’ Brittany Dodson who led all scorers with 17 points.
New coach Dan Lynch and the Lady Bobcats now have one of their toughest games behind them and can set their sites on Saturday’s contest at Warren County.

Lady Bobcats (18) Julia Jernigan, 2; Kellan Pearson, 10; Arielle Kazmark, 4; Mylisha Edwards, 2.
Lady Warriors (43) Brittany Dodson, 17; Bouldin, 8; Jones, 4; Wilhite, 7; Suggs, 3.

Warriors 46 Bobcats 21
White County jumped to a 20-6 lead in the first quarter against coach Jared Jones’ Bobcats and never looked back.
Jon Neal was the only West player with more than two points, and all six of his points came in the first half. Conor Sparkman and Daniel Duke led White County with 10 each.
The good news was that Jones was able to get playing time for all the players on his inexperienced squad, and nine Bobcats put points on the board.

Bobcats (21) Kyle Snell, 2; Jon Neal, 6; Tyler Branch, 2; Chris Ross, 2; Danny Blackburn, 2; Corey Cole, 2; David Hess, 1; Austin Creasman, 2; Dylan Austin, 2.
Warriors (46) Johnson, 4; Armstrong, 9; Conor Sparkman, 10; Sorel, 4; Daniel Duke, 10; Qualls, 2; Baker, 2; Rose, 3; Hicks, 2.
