Wildcats Hold Off Rebels Behind Bryant’s Strong Pitching Effort

Josh Bryant allowed only three hits through six innings in Wednesday's 3-1 win over Franklin County.

The Tullahoma Wildcats (3-8, 1-3) ended a three-game district losing skid with a 3-1 win over Franklin County Wednesday night at Grider Stadium, and they did it the way teams usually end losing skids—with great pitching.

Sophomore Josh Bryant allowed only three hits and walked three while striking out six in six innings of work, then Eric Spraggins came in and pitched a perfect seventh inning, striking out two and getting the last out on a grounder.

The Wildcats also did outstanding work in the field with only one error on the night, and the defensive effort included a great throw from left field by Chance Banks and a catch and tag at the plate by catcher Ross Daniels in the sixth inning to prevent Franklin County from tying the game.

The Wildcats jumped on top 1-0 in the first when Hunter Culbertson led off with a single, took second on a wild pitch and scored on Justin Brewer’s RBI single. They scored again in the second after loading the bases with one out. Banks was hit by a pitch, Phillip Heikkinen singled and Luke Grow drew a walk to load the bases, then Culbertson walked to drive in Banks.
