Lincoln County Falcons Hold Off Wildcats for 22-18 Win

When Lincoln County’s Chris Shelton flicked a little pass out into the flat to Matt Moran, it looked like a fairly innocent play, but when Moran got finished with it, he stood 79 yards away in the end zone and had lifted his team to a 22-18 win over the Tullahoma Wildcats Saturday afternoon.

The game started Friday night and finished Saturday after a storm halted play. Just like the night before, the Falcons came up with a big play Saturday when they needed it most—right after the Wildcats had taken the lead.

The night before it was Britton Twyman running a kick off back 72 yards for a touchdown right after Tullahoma took the lead. On Saturday, the Wildcats defended the kick off just fine after taking the lead late in the fourth quarter, but on the first play from scrimmage, Moran took the pass near the sideline, cut back toward midfield and romped 79 yards in spite of being hit by several Wildcats along the way.

It was 12-7 in Lincoln County’s favor when the two teams resumed play with the third-quarter kick off Saturday. Neither team scored in the third period, but the Wildcats had driven to the 13-yard line and eventually got a 30-yard field goal from Craig Roper to make it 12-10 on the second play of the fourth quarter.
