Rene Karteron has his Warren County opponent pinned in the match that put the Tullahoma Wildcats over the top in the regional duals championship Saturday.

The Tullahoma Wildcat wrestling squad won its first ever regional duals championship Saturday at the Old West gymnasium, setting up a trip to the state duals next weekend at Clarksville.
In posting a 48-30 win over Riverdale in Saturday’s semifinals and a 36-31 win over Warren County in the finals, the Wildcats wrapped up a perfect season against competition in their region. They move on to the state duals, which is team vs. team competition.
The Wildcats rolled in the semifinals against a short-handed Riverdale squad, but the finals against Warren County was tough and tight from start to finish. In fact, the match wasn’t decided until the next-to-last battle of the day. After Cody Mays came up big with a tech fall at 125 pounds to give Tullahoma the lead, the Wildcats had the right man up next in Rene Karteron, one of coach Jimmy Miller’s most experienced and talented wrestlers. Karteron got a quick pin at 130 pounds to wrap up the championship with just one match remaining. The Wildcats forfeited that weight class since the outcome was already decided.
In addition to Karteron, the Cats got pins from Cody Quick (189 pounds) and Wesley Foutch at 103. Mays picked up the five-point tech fall while Scott Church (171) and Josh Davis (152) won decisions by points. Will Norris won by forfeit at 112.
Tullahoma got four pins in the Riverdale match with Brett Gregory, Scott Church, Corey Smith and Taylor Roper putting their opponents on their backs. They won four matches by forfeit, and with the match in hand, forfeited the final three weight classes to the Warriors.
